[MP3] Common :: The Light 2008 (Produced by Just Blaze)
I have mixed feelings about this track. If you haven't heard, this song was essentially commissioned as part of Smirnoff Vodka's Signature Mix Series. While I love Just's new take on a Common classic, I can't help but have reservations about the increasingly blurred line between hip hop as an art form and the commercialism of tracks that were created to help sell liquor...either way, I'm still gonna love this remix (with reservations), and hope that Q-Tip and Dre's "Electric '08" comes just as correct.
[MP3] Kanye West :: 2 Words feat. Mos Def, Freeway, and the Harlem Boys Choir (Dert Remix)
[UPDATE: Sorry, I realized I'd originally posted the original of this song - Thanks to Jos-B for pointing that out, it's now fixed] What can I say, I love Mos Def's flow on this one. It's like the Mos from Black Star and it's '98 all over again. Add to that the sublime vocals of the Harlem Boys Choir and you have a song that features hard rhymes spit over a divine chorus.
[MP3] Hieroglyphics :: Make Your Move feat. Goapele (9th Wonder Remix)
When I first started listening to this remix of my favorite Hiero joint, I didn't think anything could touch the original, but I love how 9th Wonder reworked this track so that you won't even be thinking of the album version once you're done with it.
[MP3] Artifacts :: It's Gettin' Hot (K-Def Remix)
Somehow, every time I hear the Artifacts flow, I'm reminded me of that quintessential '90s boom bap that I always come back to. What I love about this K-Def remix is how he laces the track with a nice slinky jazz guitar that makes this a perfect track for cruising in the car or chill to.

I think you guys upped the original version of "2 Words". Regardless, good choices...I'm always fond of Dert's Jose Gonzalez-enfused remix of The Game's "Dreams".
