I remember stumbling across this Mos Def track (above) when I first got Black On Both Sides, it struck me at first simply because it was the only hip-hop song I ever heard that had to do with water...let alone any song. I remember doing more research on it and ended up reading Blue Gold. This is no joke. Zero population & water are keys to our future existence, we're not talking about future generations, but in 30 years. Watch it here.
This is just a very sad. I still remember the excitement of going to his record store in Tokyo. One of the most humble & sincere heads. We have much love here for Nujabes. We are going to take a moment of silence this weekend out of respect. Nujabes memory will live on through the fans. [AND SHING02 TOLD ME THAT HE'S BEEN WORKING ON NEW INSTALLMENT OF LUV SIC SONGS, SO BE ON THE LOOK, I'M SURE THERE WILL BE A TRIBUTE THERE.]
Here at Getdownnn we are going to start a new tradition (and see if it lasts as long (or short) as some of our others). Every Friday we are going to bring you a new mix. For a minute now, we've gone away from the music, posting lots of youtube clips, but with the help of some friends, we are back to sharing our love for the music we love. Mixtapes, when they are done well, are the perfect thing to listen to for whatever the occasion may be (cruising, partying, etc.). Since were are westcoast G's, we'll start off with DJ Icy Ice's (of the World Famous Beat Junkies) Westcoast G's Mix. Click on the pic & enjoy!
