Progress? LISTEN Obama

I know that we've been changing the imeem playlists like they're going out of style, but here's another one. To continue the celebration a little longer, I never thought I'd see this happen in my lifetime, we've updated our playlist to President Elect Barack Obama's (nice ring to it) favorite songs (the man has good taste).

On a more important note, how ironic is all of this? From the worse President ever to the first African American President? Even more ironic and sad, how did all the anti-gay props. pass? And the worse part about it, at least for Prop. 8 in California (what's up CA?), is that a majority of African Americans (70%) and Hispanics (53%) voted in favor of Prop. 8. So while it's a wonderful thing that it is now a reality that a minority can be President of the United States, gays do not have the basic right of marriage. I wondering how much of an impact education and/or religion has to do with this. Here's the breakdown.

"It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that ... we are, and always will be, the United States of America."
-Barack Obama's victory speech 11.4.2008

Officially off the soapbox now.
